The following Advisory Circular (AC) can be very helpful to you regarding construction; registration and operation of you own experimental /amateur-built aircraft. Please go to the Federal Aviation Administration and download these Advisory Circulars:
AC20-27F - Certification and Operation of Amateur-Built Aircraft. This AC gives you information in the construction / building, certification and operation of your experimental / amateur-build aircraft.
AC20-139 - Commercial Assistance During Construction of Amateur-Built Aircraft provides you information on the FAA regulations and policy regarding commercial assistance during the construction and/or assembly of your experimental / amateur-built aircraft.
AC21-12B - Application for U.S. Airworthiness Certificate. Use Form 8130-6
AC90-89A - Amateur-Built Aircraft & Ultra light Flight Testing Handbook This Advisory Circular explains and assists you as an experimental/amateur and ultra light builder in making your individual aircraft flight test plan.
AC65-23A - Certification of Repairpersons (Experimental Aircraft Builders) This Advisory Circular provides information to you as the builders of experimental / amateur-built aircraft regarding certification as repairman. NOTE: You have to be an American citizen to apply for a repairman certificate.
AC39-7C - Airworthiness Directives This Advisory Circular gives information to the owners and operators of aircraft and explains your responsibility on complying with airworthiness directives (AD), plus recording AD compliance with the appropriate maintenance records.
AC103-7 - The ultralight vehicle This AC provides guidance to you as the operators of ultralights in the United States.
